Measuring My P.D

Usually, the PD is measured during your eye test. If your PD is not included in your glasses prescription, call your doctor to get the PD as it is saved with him/her. The second option is to measure it easily by yourself!

Tools Needed:

  • Mirror

  • Pen/Marker

  • Millimeter Ruler (Don’t have one, you can print our Online ruler)

Step 1

Stand straight in front of a mirror.

Step 2

Place a simple ruler (which has measurements in mm) on your nose. The starting point of your ruler can be either at exactly the centre of your left eye pupil or your right eye pupil.

Step 3

You can close one eye to see if the end of the scale lies at the center of the pupil.

Step 4

Keep the ruler steady and mark the location of the center of the other eye’s pupil on the ruler.

The distance between the starting and the ending point represents the PD. Measure this distance in mm.  In this Example the PD is 60mm. You can repeat the process at least three times for an accurate measurement.
