If you are prescribed glasses by an eye doctor it’s important to know how to read it. They written different ways but most are written in horizontal rows. The first row is the prescription of the right eye (OD) and the second row is the left eye (OS). Within these rows are three values: Sphere (SPH), Cylinder (CYL), and axis. The SPH corrects for near sight, and CYL / Axis indicate for astigmatism. You might have another field labeled as ADD which corrects for reading power used in progressive or bifocal lens.
